Superman saves the pilot and uses some Navy cable to lasso the first of the flying creatures, and drags it along behind him as he sets off for San Francisco. An American Fighter Pilot soon comes in contact with one, while the other menaces San Francisco.

Hearing Jimmy's signal watch, Clark changes into Superman and rescues Jimmy and the other missing men and closes off the cave tunnel between the surface world and the underworld of Emor. Against Clark's warning, Jimmy goes scuba diving on his own and is captured by a group of Mermen who have been collecting humans for their Roman-like gladitorial games.
